Description
Français : * Dormition de la Vierge. Fragment de peinture murale provenant de l'église Sainte-Madeleine de Strasbourg, vers 1480.
  • Cette peinture murale se trouvait dans l'un des enfeus de l'église gothique de 1478 qui a brûlé en 1904 (l'incendie de l'orphelinat attenant ayant mis le feu à l'église). La nef et le chœur comportaient chacun plusieurs enfeus. Selon la restauratrice, d'après les contours du fragment, la localisation la plus probable serait celle de l'enfeu Nord-Ouest du chœur.
  • Ce fragment, sauvé après l'incendie de 1904, a été acquis par la Société pour la Conservation des Monuments historiques d'Alsace en 1913, puis déposé aux musées. Il a été cédé à la Ville de Strasbourg en 1946, en même temps que l'ensemble des collections.
  • Technique picturale mixte sur enduit de chaux et de sable, dorure à la feuille.
  • Déjà restaurée en 1975, la pièce l'a été de manière plus approfondie en 2017, par Camille Jouen, dans le cadre d'un Diplôme national de restaurateur du patrimoine (Institut national du patrimoine).
  • Exposé au Musée de l'Œuvre Notre-Dame de Strasbourg. Inv. MAD.XIII.20
