Title
Double loop pointed oval buckle.
Description
English: The buckle frame is made from cast copper alloy. In plan it is a sub pointed oval shape with a narrowed strap bar. The width of the frame is 17.6mm, and is 22.9mm long. The pin is missing.

The apex of one loop is slightly pointed, the other loop is more rounded at the apex. The loops in section are sub trapezoidal shape. The strap bar is narrowed and is trapezoidal in section. The reverse of the frame is flat and undecorated, the upper surface of the frame has rounded edges, but otherwise no decoration.

The surface of the frame is corroded and there are traces only of a dark green patina.

Egan and Pritchard suggest buckles of this shape maybe dated between the late 13th to 14th centuries. In the Museum of London there are similar examples, for example no. 380 is a similar shape, but not size.
