Double oval framed buckle
Description
English: A copper-alloy buckle of medieval date. A double oval framed buckle probably dating from the late 14th to early 15th century AD. The object measures 45mm wide by 28m high and 1.5mm thick. The upper surface of the frame is slightly domed, whilst the underside is flat. There is a slight protrusion on each of the two vertical sides, one of which acts as a pin rest. There is a central bar of semi-circular section and, wrapped around this bar, a tapering pin with a flat underside and slightly domed upper surface. The surface of the buckle shows traces of a silvering or tinning. The object weighs 7.41g.
