The Millenary Dragon Tree in Icod de los Vinos, northeast Tenerife, was declared a National Monument back in 1917 and is, with the Teide, a symbolic monument representing the Canary Islands. This specimen of Dracaena draco could be one of the oldest living things in the world, with an estimated age of 1000 years. The tree is more than 16 meters high and the trunk has a 20 meter circumference at the base. Its weight is estimated at 140 tons De Duizendjarige Drakenbloedboom in Icod de los Vinos is sinds 1917 een nationaal monument en is, samen met de Teide, symbolisch monument van de Canarische Eilanden. Deze Dracaena Draco zou één van de oudste levende wezens ter wereld zijn, met een geschatte leeftijd van 1000 jaar. De boom is meer dan 16 meter hoog en de stam heeft aan de basis een omtrek van 20 meter. Zijn gewicht wordt op 140 ton geschat. El Drago Milenario en Icod de los Vinos es monumento nacional desde 1917, y con el Teide, un símbolo altamente representativo de Canarias. Este Dracaena Draco está considerado como uno de los seres vivos más ancianos del mundo, con una edad estimada de 1000 años, una altura de más de 16 metros y se sostiene sobre una base de 20 metros de perímetro, con un peso que se estima cercano a las 140 toneladas. |
