EEN DAG KAZERNELEVEN; Weekjournaal van Polygoon Hollands Nieuws van week 37 uit 1939.; Een dag uit het leven van soldaten in een kazerne te Haarlem. SHOTS: - reveille in slaapzaal, waarna de soldaten zich slaperig aankleden, zich zingend wassen en hun tanden poetsen; - marcherende militairen op straat; - levering van voedsel aan kazerne (broden en vlees); - bereiding van voedsel door koks (aardappelen met uien, hachee en rijstepap); - zaal (ziekenrapport) waar artsen zieke soldaten onderzoeken en het been van een militair verbinden; - div. medicijnen (oa wonderolie en asperine); - militairen in recreatiezaal (biljarten, waarbij soldaat de bal juist voordat kok de bal wil stoten wegneemt, dammen en sjoelen). Tenslotte zingt een soldaat in dialect een lied waarvan het refrein door de andere soldaten wordt meegezongen.
