Das Haus steht in dem zum östlichen Teil der Fischerstadt gehörenden Uferstreifen nördlich des Mühlgrabens. Dicht östlich stand bis in die 1960er Jahre noch eine Mühle auf dem Nachbargrundstück, deren Fundamentreste man vom gegenüberliegenden Ufer (Rot-Kreuz-Weg) noch gut studieren kann.
