Title |
Early Medieval Mount |
||
Description |
English: A fragment of a cast, copper-alloy mount, possibly from a horse harness, dating to the 10th or 11th century. The fragment is sub-triangular in plan and consists of an openwork, intertwined pattern in the Urnes style. There is one small rivet hole near the lobed apex and three other, irregularly-spaced holes, one larger than the other two, within the body of the mount. Some incised design is visible between the holes. The base is broken across several points indicating that this is a fragment of a larger object. The reverse of the mount is flat. |
