Description |
English: Early Roman copper alloy Roman copper alloy double lug Colchester derivative brooch. What remains is the top of the bow and the stubs of the wings. The head of the brooch arches over the wings and narrows to form a ridge or lug in front of the wings. The wings are C-shaped in cross-section. The back of the bow has central ridge that has two perforations in it. The first perforation is sited on the ridge in front of the wings an the other above the junction of the wings and the bow. Probably dates to between c43 and c100 AD.
The length is 11mm, the width is 16mm, thickness 6.5mm, and the weight 2.03g. |
