Title
Early medieval : Buckle
Description
English: An incomplete cast copper alloy buckle of early-medieval date. Only a small portion of the frame survives with the strap bar and pin having been lost. The surviving frame has a sub-triangular section and a zoomorphic head terminal. The eyes are formed from two wide and deep indentations.

This buckle most probably dates to the 9th century AD.
The metal is a dark greenish-brown colour and survives in good condition. The buckle is 24.3mm long, 23mm wide, 5.9mm thick and weighs 4.3g.
