Description |
English: A circular cast lead spindle whorl. Diameter 29.7mm, thickness 13.1mm. With a slightly off centre, circular aperture 10.4mm in diameter. Plain surfaces, broadly rectangular in cross section.
Walton-Rogers dates spindle whorls with a rectangular cross-section to after AD c. 900, although they appear in York as early as AD 700.
