Description
English: A cast lead spindle whorl, circular in plan, rectangular in cross section, with a central, circular aperture. Diameter 34.4mm, thickness 9.2mm. Central aperture 12.4mm in diameter. Both faces fairly flat and plain. Sides uneven.

Walton-Rogers dates spindle whorls with a rectangular cross-section to after AD c. 900, although they appear in York as early as AD 700.
