Summary
[edit]DescriptionEchinocereus enneacanthus in bloom - Val Verde County TX (1).jpg |
English: The plant: A Strawberry Cactus, Echinocereus enneacanthus, in bloom. Three photos show the very same plant: total view, closer, closeup. Plant identification: The photographers’ original identification was: Claret Cup Cactus, Echinocereus triglochidiatus. – In 2015, Uleli revised the identification for two of these images, calling the plant Echinocereus enneacanthus and pointing out that “IT IS NOT Claret Cup Cactus, Echinocereus triglochidiatus”. “Several bunches found near the edge of one of the dirt roads in a new housing development area off Highway 90 between Del Rio and Lake Amistad (not far from Cripple Creek Saloon Restaurant). No homes yet but looks like most of the 2 1/2 acre lots have already been sold. Recent rains make the roads a little messy to travel, but even harder to get out and tromp around on and getting down on hands and knees!” |
