Title
Edging
Object type Classification: NM3.6523
Description
English: Edging, lace, silk, blonde bobbin lace, large scalloped edge with flower heads in each and 2mm diameter circlets scattered on a fine net ground This is a good example of Blonde lace technique, which is made in the same way as Chantilly lace, the latter usually being black. This edging was possibly used on the edge of clothing e.g. cuffs, and would have been one of the wearer's more valuable laces, given the materials used. Alwynne Crowsen, Volunteer, Applied Arts
