La goélette expérimentale Cardabela est conçue dans les premiers plans avec un bulbe d'étrave.

On voit l'effet de ce bulbe d'étrave sur cette vidéo qui a été enregistrée lorsque la goélette a atteint une vitesse de 7 nœuds environ. La vague du bulbe contrarie la vague d'étrave et ceci jusqu'à la vitesse limite du bateau. L'effet de bulbe n'a pas d'effet sur la vitesse limite et ne semble pas avoir d'action spectaculaire sur la consommation de carburant.
