Deutsch: Ein gefesseltes Krokodil, das von den Kajan als Freund und heiliges Tier betrachtet wird und nicht getötet werden darf. Daher wind es, wenn es einen Menschen tötete, gefangen, unter freundlicher Anrede wie "Großvater" und ähnlichem gebunden und dem natürlichen Tode überlassen.
English: The sacred crocodile. The crocodile is considered a friend and a sacred animal by Kayans, and must not be killed. Accordingly, when a crocodile has killed a human being, it is caught and, after being talked to in a friendly manner with the term of "grandfather," etc., it is bound up and allowed to die in a natural manner on the bank. |
