Description
Deutsch: Oben: Ekman-Spirale in perspektivischer Ansicht, Windstress (blau), tiefenabhängige Strömung (schwarz).

Mitte: Draufsicht. Die mittlere Strömung (integriert bis in große Tiefe) ist quer zum Wind gerichtet (auf der Nordhemisphäre nach rechts).

Unten: Kräftediagramm für eine Schicht zwischen zwei anderen. Die Geschwindigkeiten (schwarz) unterscheiden sich jeweils in der Richtung um 20°, im Betrag um etwa einen Faktor 1,42. Die Reibungskräfte (blau) sind proportional zu den Geschwindigkeitsdifferenzen. Die Corioliskraft wirkt quer zur Geschwindigkeit. Die Summe der Kräfte ist null (Gleichgewicht).
