Summary

[edit]
Description
English: IASA 2022 Annual Conference - On-demand Programme The possibilities of the Wikimedia platforms (Wikipedia, Wikidata and Wikimedia Commons) as a collaborative file generated by amateur people will be analyzed qualitatively and quantitatively, through metrics. These systems are used by both public and private institutions, as well as by artists, teachers and those interested in free knowledge, to store a wealth of data that is interconnected. In this paper, the cases of these platforms will be analyzed to form a structured and open archive of information that expands the capacities of public cultural institutions in Mexico, as well as universities, to make these collections available to a wide public. Likewise, the advantages and disadvantages of allowing anyone to contribute to the construction of an archive that has the potential to become a common good will be discussed.
