Description NEW YORK - Secretary of Homeland Security Jeh Johnson presided over a naturalization ceremony welcoming 61 new U.S. citizens from 39 countries on Ellis Island, New York, May 27, 2016. Ellis Island was the gateway for more than 12 million immigrants to the United States as the nation's busiest immigrant inspection station from 1892 until 1954. Official DHS photo by Barry Bahler.
