Русский: В средневековье медицина была тесно связана с астрологией и другими далекими от науки суевериями. В данной рукописи на пергаменте, изготовленном в южной Германии около 1410 года, содержатся рисунки пером и чернилами с пояснениями на немецком и латинском языках. На первом рисунке изображена Земля и семь планет. На следующем рисунке изображен мужчина-зодиак, обнаженный мужчина изображен с 12 знаками зодиака, каждый из которых относится к конкретной части тела. Далее изображены схемы кровопускания. Такие схемы или календари кровопускания широко использовались в то время. В них приводились инструкции относительно наиболее подходящих дней для кровопускания, а также указывались части тела, из которых лучше всего пускать кровь. Благодаря своей сложности — в них приводились ссылки на разные фазы луны, различные заболевания и различные части тела — эти инструкции вызывали веру в необходимость этой по сути бесполезной и зачастую вредной для здоровья процедуры. Ce manuscrit sur vélin, produit dans le sud de l'Allemagne autour de 1410, contient des dessins à la plume et à l'encre avec des textes explicatifs en allemand et en latin. Le premier dessin montre la terre et sept planètes. Il est suivi de l'homme Zodiac, un homme nu représenté avec les 12 signes du zodiaque, se rapportant chacun à une partie spécifique du corps. Suivent quatre tableaux de saignée du corps humain. Ces tableaux ou calendriers de saignée étaient largement utilisés au cours de cette période. Ils apportaient des instructions sur les jours optimum pour prélever du sang, et les points du corps pour ce faire. La complexité même des instructions offertes - elles variaient selon différentes phases de la lune, différentes maladies, et différents points du corps - conférait une certaine crédibilité à un acte essentiellement inutile et souvent dangereux. L'ouvrage se termine par des dessins de la Tour de la Sagesse (texte en allemand), un homme appelé Microcosmus ; un homme appelé Macrocosmus ; l'arbre de la vertu, la philosophie, entourée des Sept Arts ; des histoires illustrant la puissance maléfique des femmes, l'arbre de Babylone (ou le vice) ; la Tour de la Sagesse (texte en latin, sur deux feuilles), et la Roue de la Fortune. Cette œuvre provient de la Collection Rosenwald de la Bibliothèque du Congrès.
Allégorie; Astrologie; Médecine médiévale; Zodiaque English: In the Middle Ages, medicine was very much intertwined with astrology and other nonscientific superstitions. This manuscript on vellum, produced in southern Germany around 1410, contains pen and ink drawings with explanatory texts in German and Latin. The first drawing shows the earth and seven planets. It is followed by Zodiac-man, a naked man shown with the 12 signs of the zodiac, each relating to a specific part of the body. Next are four bloodletting charts of the human body. Such bleeding charts or calendars were widely used in this period. They provided instructions on the optimum days on which to draw blood, and the body points from which to draw it. The very complexity of the instructions offered–they varied for different phases of the moon, different diseases, and different body points– lent a degree of credibility to an essentially worthless and often harmful act. The work concludes with drawings of the Tower of Wisdom (text in German); a man called Microcosmus; a man called Macrocosmus; the Tree of Virtue; Philosophy surrounded by the Seven Arts; stories showing the evil power of women; the Tree of Babylon (or vice); the Tower of Wisdom (text in Latin, on two leaves); and the Wheel of Fortune. This work is from the Rosenwald Collection at the Library of Congress.
