Summary

On Sunday 23rd August 2015, platforms 0, 1 and 2 at Cardiff Central were closed due to engineering works. A road rail digger is seen at the western end of Platform 1 during the work. I am not sure what the purpose of the work was - I guessed it might be related to cabling of some kind - perhaps the signalling system. Train services at Cardiff Central were using the remaining platforms (3, 4, 6 and 7). The weather was not kind to the engineers, with heavy rain for much of the morning. A visit to Cardiff Central a week later suggested that the work was in connection with new signals and their associated foundations and cabling.
