Description iconographique:

Prison de Saint-Lazare, 107 rue du Faubourg Saint-Denis, 10ème arrondissement. Photo d'un tableau ou d'un dessin. Enterrement. Devant la porte de l'infirmerie, deux femmes portent un brancard sur lequel il y a un cerceuil recouvert d'un catafalque. Des femmes suivent le cortége. A gauche du cerceuil, une religieuse et à droite un gardien. Commentaire historique:

En 1898 la destruction de nombreuses prisons est décidée. Saint-Lazare échappe à cette première vague, mais la question de sa destruction est relancée en 1912. La Commission Municipale du Vieux commande des photographies de ces bâtiments avant leur disparition. La partie judiciaire de Saint-Lazare ne sera finalement détruite qu'entre 1935 et 1940.
