Description
English: Example of Tetrahymena trapped at the water-air interface. The movie was taken using the upright microscope (Leica, DM, German) with the 10 objective lens (Leica, HCX PL FLUOTAR 10/0.30 PH1) at 22 fps using dark field imaging. The display frame rate is also 22 fps. In this movie we can observe some trapped cells at the interface. They are moving in two-dimension and all of them are focused. The other cells are swimming in three-dimension. We can also observe some cells getting trapped at the interface, which slow them down greatly (e.g. top left corner at 3.77 s), and some others escaping from the interface, which makes them accelerate (e.g. middle right corner at 2.77 s).
