Creator: Alexander Wetmore

Summary: Ordinary style mortar, with fuse of aerial bomb projecting set to frighten ducks from rice fields. Maxwell, California. September 7, 1918. The image was taken by sixth Smithsonian Secretary and ornithologist, Alexander Wetmore, while on scientific expedition to the region.
