Title
Exeter: lead papal bulla, obv.
Description
English: Fragment of a cast lead papal bulla. It represents half of the bulla, althought the face of St Paul can be seen. The reverse has the letters 'V' and 'S' across the middle and a faint 'B' above. The faint Roman numeral at the base is unclear, but would refer to the pope represented by the bulla. This may be a bulla of Pope Urban, but without the numeral it is unclear to which pope and date this belongs. However, as a large number of bullae of Urban VI have been found in Britain, it could possibly belong to him. It can only be given a broad medieval to post medieval date.
