Summary[edit]

Description

Meet Marliatou, a community health worker in Kalan, administering in a remote village in Guinea a rapid diagnostic test of malaria by detecting evidence of malaria parasites (antigens) in human blood. Malaria is the number one public health problem in the country, taking more lives than any other disease. Guinea`s approximately 12 million people experience year-round transmissions with the highest risks of contracting the disease between July and October. To help Guinea meet ambitious malaria reduction goals, funding from the President’s Malaria Initiative through StopPalu, operates in half of Guinea’s 38 districts to boost local capacity and implement prevention programs that are proven to stop malaria transmission.
