Title
finger ring bezel
Description
English: Large cast copper alloy seal finger ring with a flat circular bezel (15mm in diameter) attached to the hoop at a 90degree angle.

The frame is 27mm in diameter and D-shaped in section, with a flat rear section. The design on the bezel is possibly a crowned "W".

Harvey and McGuiness (1996:93) comment "An initial with crown above, branches at the side, was a design that became increasingly common in the fifteenth century...Those with one letter were probably bought ready made and as I, R, T and W are especially common it is likely that the letter usually stood for the purchaser's forename".

The style of ring is typical of a crude design from the late 15th to 16th centuries AD.
