Description
English: Flagon, tapering drum, three sets low fillets, one fillets below rim, domed lid, (not double volute thumb piece), hollow handle, (.) terminal additional comments- description- “York straight-sided.” makers comment- “Most York straight-sided flagons are all more or less identical and cast in the same moulds. The maker's marks differ, but that is not surprising as the York Pewterers' guild hired out moulds to its members. However, this particular maker has not been recorded on them before. The thumb piece is unlikely to be a double volute - see P66. Needs inspection - the images did not get through to me.” Peter Hayward, Database Manager, Pewter Society, England, 28 February 2008
