NEW YORK (May. 24, 2012) Dylan Ottman, from the Office of Naval Research (ONR) Tech Solutions program, explains an improved flight deck uniform to a visitor aboard the amphibious assault ship USS Wasp (LHD 1) during Fleet Week New York 2012. The improvements include new, safer head protection; a more durable, quick-drying and comfortable jersey; a coat that acts as a flotation device in emergencies; and trousers with secure pockets and an improved fit. The Tech Solutions program is a rapid-response technology development program that funds government laboratories to produce prototype solutions for problems identified by Sailors and Marines.
