GULF OF OMAN (August 10, 2012) Iranian mariners wave goodbye to Sailors on the guided-missile destroyer USS James E. Williams (DDG 95) as they prepare to be transferred to an Iranian vessel for repatriation. Sailors from James E. Williams’ visit, board, search and seizure team rescued the 10 mariners after they were forced to abandon their burning vessel in the Gulf of Oman. James E. Williams is deployed to the U.S. 5th Fleet area of responsibility conducting maritime security operations, theater security cooperation efforts and support missions as part of Operation Enduring Freedom.
