PACIFIC OCEAN (Oct. 2, 2012) Aerographer's Mate 2nd Class Darrel Osborne, left, and Aerographer's Mate 3rd Class Mindie Cobos, both assigned to the amphibious assault ship USS Makin Island (LHD 8), operate a hand-held anemeter and a digital weather tracker to measure wind direction and speed prior to flight operations. Makin Island and Marines assigned to the 13th Marine Expeditionary Unit (13th MEU) are underway to participate in San Francisco Fleet Week 2012.
