[edit]DescriptionFood Standards Committee (FDA 136) (8206974582).jpg |
Food Standards Committee, 1930: The chief weakness in FDA’s founding statute was a failure to establish legally enforceable food standards. FDA worked tirelessly to establish unofficial food standards, many of which were adopted by individual states until the 1938 Food, Drug, and Cosmetic Act mandated food standards be adopted “in the interests of consumers.” For more information about FDA history visit www.fda.gov/AboutFDA/WhatWeDo/History/default.htm |
