Vines crawls over the railings of a large house, which has white siding and a long porch.

Fort Vancouver. The Chief Factor's House, originally built in 1837-1838, was reconstructed in 1976. Located near the north entrance inside the stockade, the house is a one and one-half story structure. There are wooden shingles covering the hip roof, lapped board siding painted white covering the exterior walls, and a single brick chimney in the interior. The most prominent architectural detail is the veranda, extending along the front. Two sets of curving stairs allow access to the porch, and hop vines offer shade during the summer.
