Title
Fragment of Roman ceramic colour coated ware vessel with barbotine decoration, AD.100-350.
Description
English: Fragment of Roman ceramic colour coated ware vessel with barbotine decoration, AD.100-350. This is a fragment of a Roman hunt cup, with barbotine decoration resembling the head of an animal, perhaps a hare or deer. The head includes a single large circular eye and the start of the animals ears as well as a linear mouth. The fabric of the vessel is white with a black slip covering both interior and exterior surfaces, possibly Nene Valley Colour Coated Ware or a continental equivalent. The edges are highly worn and the piece is small.
