Redi, bu deneyine, Esperienze Intorno alla Generazione degl'Insetti (Böceklerin Jenerasyonu Üzerine Denemeler, 1668) isimli eserinde yer vermiştir. Redi, bu çalışmasında, “kontrollü deney” yöntemini uygulamıştır.
