| Description |
We park here. If we were to park at the bottom of either side of the ridge we'd wake in the morning to find the truck axle deep in loam. Fun Fact: This ridge is a Drummlin, a deposit of gravel left behind from the last glacier to pass this way. In fact if we were to step into the way-back machine you'd find yourself treading water above what was once a fresh water reef, a huge donut shaped reef. If we were arriving fresh from the city we'd unload the truck here; backpacks where they go, food cooler and bottled water pulled in via the wagon... We change from comfy yet sensible shoes to Wellies, it's almost always damp here somewhere plus the height of the boot provides some protection against a surprised snake. Would you like a beer? Biff'll usually crack a frosty, (well lukewarmy), here after the drive... Oh and you'll wanna douse yer selves in bug dope. The insect airforce has a certain predeliction for fresh blood. |
