English: The steam plumes of Frimmersdorf Power Station (left), Neurath Power Station (middle) and Niederaußem Power Station (right) rise through the cloud layer.
These clouds contain generally condensed water steam just like natural clouds. However, there is a certain amount of CO2 coming up from the powerstation which is invisible. Picture taken shortly after taking off at Cologne-Bonn Airport, Runway 14L and making a right turn, flying pretty exactly westwards. Aboard flight AB9250 to Mallorca, Registration D-ABBQ, looking northwards. Diese Wolken bestehen hauptsächlich aus kondensiertem Wasserdampf - genau wie natürliche Wolken. Aufgrund der Rauchgasentschwefelung sind die Abgase für einen natürlichen Schornsteinzug zu kalt. Daher werden die behandelten Abgase in die Kühltürme geleitet, der Auftrieb der warmen Kühlwasserwrasen sorgt für genügenden Zug. Somit sind die Wolken ein Gemisch aus Wasserdampf und Abgasen (CO2), die Abgase selbst sind an wärmeren Tagen ohne Wrasenbildung sichtbar. Aufgenommen kurz nach dem Start auf dem Flughafen Köln-Bonn Startbahn 14L und einer Rechtskurve auf westlichem Kurs. An Bord von Flug AB9250 nach Mallorca. Blickrichtung Norden.
