Description
English: Frogs in Aardenburg (Kikkerfontein op het Kaaiplein)
De Kikkerfontein op het Kaaiplein die verwijst naar de bijnaam van de Aardenburgers, die kikkers genoemd worden. Deze naam is afkomstig van het groene uniform van de plaatselijke fanfare. De inwoners van Aardenburg hebben de naam kikkers als geuzennaam aangenomen. De fontein toont karakteristieke inwoners van de belangrijkste kernen van de voormalige gemeente Aardenburg, uiteraard in de vorm van waterspuwende kikkers.
There are four frogs on this fountain, located on the site of the former port, outside the retreating bank branches, of which two are shown here. The frogs are named after four distinguished Aardenburg citizens. (Aardenburgers sometimes refer to themselves as "frogs" and a footpath round a section of the southern edge of the town is known as the "Kikkerpad" ("Frog path").)
