Summary

[edit]
Description
English: The Fulton County Jail, originally the Tryon County Jail, is a historic jail complex located at the corner of Perry and Montgomery Street in Johnstown, New York. The original section was built in 1772-1773. During the American Revolutionary at palsiade with watch towers was added and it became Fort Johnstown, the headquarters for militiamen who engaged the British in 1781. Around 1806, a larger brick section was added, as well as a smaller brick section to the west of the original building, creating an "L" shape. The building was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1981.[
