Cap diameter: 0.2-0.8 cm Recognized by sight Based on microscopic features: Cheilocystidia essentially capitate to subcapitate (Subsection Tibiicystidiae); not on Sphagnum and Spores distinctly roughened (stirps Triscopa);Spores 5-8(10) microns long, no annulus, not viscid or brick red, with a distinct conic umbo, Spores 6- 8(10) microns long, growing on wood,Veil thin to rudimentary (at times all traces gone by maturity)= Galerina triscopa complex.
