Da tyskerne kom til Elsfjord var der ikke båter de kunne bruke. Tyskerne laget en improvisert ferge, de snekret sammen en flåte, tok ut motoren i en av bilene sine, satte den på en mindre flåte, laget en slags propell, festet slepetau i den større flåten og lot det stå til ut fjorden.

When the Germans came to Elsfjord there was not boats they could use. The soldiers made an impromptu ferry, they put together a fleet, took out the motor in one of their cars, put it on a smaller fleet, created a kind of propeller, attached tow rope in the larger fleet and left it to the fjord.
