Summary[edit]

Description

Gliwice was the far western outreach of the enormous Katowice system of WPK. In German times known as Gleiwitz. Single line working here indicates it might be the terminus which was in some peaceful backstreets little changed from pre-war times. WPK, the operator, stands for Wojewódzkie Przedsiębiorstwo Komunikacyjne w Katowicach many of these trams were withdrawn in 1991 and sold to PKT Katowice, Przedsiębiorstwo Komunikacji Tramwajowej - probably a hiving off of the tramways from the rest of the public transport in late 1991. This one seems to be no. 413, but no reference to it is found in this incomplete fleet list. The fleet is now owned by Tramwaje Śląskie Spółka Akcyjna, part of the Komunikacyjny Związek Komunalny Górnośląskiego Okręgu Przemysłowego (KZK GOP) Route 4 ran between now Gliwice Zajezdnia - Maciejów – Zabrze – Zaborze Lompy Pętla More details on the Katowice tram wiki page Apparently tramway operation in Gliwice has now ceased since 1 September 2009 with the abandonment of routes 1 and 4.

413 was a Konstal 105Na tram which was withdrawn before 2003.
