| Description |
Gotha G4-65 articulated tram 205 at Hauptbahnhof, arriving from Ostbahnhof on route 2. 205 was scrapped in 1993. It had been repainted from cream and red into the blue and white town livery, and is carrying MA Mitteldeutsche Allgemeine Zeitung advertising for the local newspaper. The MAZ was another short-lived newspaper in Thüringen between 1990 and 1993 in the crazy free market world when there were five daily newspapers in the town as stated here in Aschenbrenners blog. The MA was an attempt to break into the Thuringian market by Hessisch/Niedersächsischen Allgemeinen“ (HNA) of West Germany. Its successor, the Thueringische Landeszeitung from Weimar still exists in a much shrunken market having taken over what remained of the HNA excursion into the new Bundeslaender. To complete the scene, advertising hoardings show western cigarette brands, including WEST, "eine Lights mit Power!" |
