Description
English: Götzenite
Locality: Poudrette quarry (Demix quarry; Uni-Mix quarry; Desourdy quarry; Carrière Mont Saint-Hilaire), Mont Saint-Hilaire, Rouville RCM, Montérégie, Québec, Canada
The larger lath is ~ 1¼ mm long. Via Jean-Pierre Beckerich. MOB coll.
This is from a marble xenolith. The götzenite laths grow in and on pectolite. In addition to the pectolite, associated minerals include leucophanite, ancylite-(Ce), phologopite and something that looks like calcioburbankite on petersenite-(Ce). The leucophanite (a very rare occurence in marble xenolith) is shown in http://www.mindat.org/photo-172441.html See the child photos for some of the others.
Added/replaced several photos including the parent Dec 2012. In particular, I added a broader stereo view of this cluster. The old parent photo is now a new child photo. (It's not a good photo but it does show some of the götzenite laths more clearly.) I also a new mono photo of another example of the "calcioburbankite" and replaced the ancylite photo and replaced the photo of the other götzenite cluster with a stereo view. (There are actually very many such clusters on the specimen so this may be a different one.)
