Cet hôtel a été construit par Jean Androuet du Cerceau à partir de 1613, pour Henri de Lorraine, fils du duc de Mayenne et fut appelé hôtel de Mayenne (ou du Maine). Acheté en 1759 par Marie-Françoise de Paule Le Fèvre d'Ormesson, il pris alors le nom d'hôtel d'Ormesson.
