| Description |
Deutsch: Gustav war der zweitälteste Sohn. Er besuchte das Katharineum, bestand mit 17 das Abiturium und studierte die Rechtswissenschaften in Tübingen – wo er dem Corps Suevia angehörte –,Berlin und Göttingen. Nachdem er 21-jährig seine juristische Prüfung bestanden hatte, war er zuerst Referendar im preußischen und seit Mai 1914 lübeckischen Staatsdienst. Bei Ausbruch des Krieges trat er als Vize-Wachtmeister ins Feldartillerie-Regiment Nr. 9 ein, wurde aber schon bald einer schweren Munitionskolonne zugeteilt. Mit seiner Ernennung zum Leutnant wurde er im Oktober 1914 in den Stab der Kolonne versetzt. Auf seinen Wunsch hin, wurde er kurz vor Weinachten in sein altes Regiment zurückversetzt. Am 14. Februar 1915 wurde er in ein Rheinisches Reserve-Infanterie-Regiment versetzt, wo er als einziger Offizier die 2. Kompanie übernahm. Bei einem Sturmangriff in einem französischen Schützengraben in der fiel er am 19. Februar 1915.
Français : Gustav était le deuxième fils aîné. Il fréquente le Katharineum, passe son Abitur à 17 ans et étudie le droit à Tübingen – où il fait partie du Corps Suevia –, Berlin et Göttingen. Après avoir réussi son examen juridique à l'âge de 21 ans, il fut d'abord avocat stagiaire dans la fonction publique prussienne et, à partir de mai 1914, à Lübeck. Lorsque la guerre éclate, il rejoint le 9th Field Artillery Regiment en tant que sous-sergent, mais est rapidement affecté à une colonne de munitions lourdes. Avec sa promotion au grade de lieutenant en octobre 1914, il est muté à l'état-major de la colonne. À sa demande, il est transféré dans son ancien régiment peu avant Noël. Le 14 février 1915, il est muté dans un régiment d'infanterie de réserve rhénan, où il est le seul officier à prendre la tête de la 2e compagnie. Il tombe lors d'un assaut dans une tranchée française le 19 février 1915. |
