| Description |
Deutsch: Erich wurde am 23. August 1887 als Sohn von Julius geboren. Nachdem er zunächst das Progymnasium des Dr. Bussenius, bevor er auf das Katharineum, welches er Ostern 1906 abschloss, wechselte. In deren Turnhalle ist sein Name auf der Tafel der Sieger im Fünfkampf eingetragen.
Er studierte auf der Kolonialschule in Witzenhausen, der landwirtschaftlichen Hochschule in Berlin und auch sein Dienstjahr und die Übungen in Garde-Pionier-Bataillon war seinem künftigen Beruf angepasst. Er ging nach Mexico. Sein dortiger Prinzipal bot ihm, als er nach Deutschland zurückkehren wollte, die Teilhaberschaft an. Dieses Vertrauen rechtfertigte er auch in den bald einsetzenden mexikanischen Wirren. Obwohl militärisch ungebunden stellte er seinem Vaterland seine Dienste zur Verfügung, erhielt aber erst im Dezember 1914 von seinem Teilhaber die Freigebe. Im März 1915 wurde er als Offizier-Stellvertreter der Reserve-Pionierkompanie im Osten zugewiesen und einige Wochen darauf zum Leutnant befördert. Er erhielt das Eiserne Kreuz und nahm an der Befreiung Kurlands teil. Am 20. Juli schwer verwundet, verstarb er am Folgetag. |
