| Description | "Centaur" Class Aircraft Carrier "HMS Bulwark", 22,000 tons, launched 1948, completed 1954. She had been brought out of reserve to be refitted for the Falklands Relief Fleet to replace the Task Force after the end of the Falklands War. However, as she was in very poor condition and fire-damaged, and as the new "HMS Illustrious" was completed and commissioned in record time, so she was placed "for disposal" instead and scrapped in 1984. To the left is the cruiser "HMS Tiger", also for disposal. At the Portsmouth Navy Day, 08/82. Scanned slide. |
