Summary[edit]

Description

The Halberstadt C.V first flew in March 1918 and only saw service for the last few months of World War One. The type was the most advanced German two-seater of the period and many were used as trainers by other countries after the war. This is the only survivor of the type and is No 3470/18 (has this also been reported as 3471/18??). It was used for training by the Belgian Air Service after the war, before being donated to the museum in 1920/1921. After many years on display untouched, a slow and gentle restoration has begun. The aeroplane is part of what is known as the Brussels Air Museum, although it is actually the Air and Space Section of the Royal Museum of the Armed Forces and Military History. Brussels, Belgium.
