Locality: Poudrette quarry (Demix quarry; Uni-Mix quarry; Desourdy quarry; Carrière Mont Saint-Hilaire), Mont Saint-Hilaire, Rouville RCM, Montérégie, Québec, Canada
FOV 1.4 x 1.8 mm. MOB coll.
MSH helvite can be reliably distinguished from genthelvite via its UV response (deep red vs green - Horvath et al Min Rec 1990 etc.). (According to Mandarino. helvite at MSH does not fluoresce. But these xls do fluoresce fairly bright red - as per Horvath.)
I "collected" this and a few other xls from a mislabeled specimen. I didn't get what I paid for but I think I got my money's worth - helvite is quite rare at MSH.
