Marthasville Couple Marks 60th Wedding Anniversary. A whole community of friends, neighbors and relative turned out this paw week end to celebrate the sixtieth wedding anniversary of Marthasville couple, Mr. and Mrs. Herman J. Muench, whose wedding data was March 2), 1896. Previous to that time, Mrs. Muench (then Miss Elinor Guagenmoo of Warrenton) had coin to Lake Creek community a the teacher of the country tchool there. Mr. Muench was a young farmer, living with hi parents, Mr. and Mrs. Julius Muench, who took in the school teacher a theit boarder. She toon endeared herseli to them, and became a member of the family in more way than one. After four yean of teaching, she married Mr, Muench and took up the tola of a farmer t wife. Four children were born to them: Verna, now Mr. Paul Vieth of Hamden, Conn.; Flora who died in 192 at th age of twenty-four: Elizabeth, now Mr. Oi car Bollmann of Rockford, III., and Leroy, at horn. In 1928 the Muenches moved from the Lake Creek farm to Marthasville, where they have line mad their home. Mr. Bollman and Leroy were able to be with their parent for th anniversary. Festivities began when, on Friday evening, March 2), tha Muenche attended the regular monthly meeting of the Missouri Farmers Association and its auxiliary, the Women's Progressive Farm Association, of which they are member. To their great tur. prise and delight, special honors had been prepared for them, in the form of flowers, gift, wedding cake, music. and greetings and tributes from mem ber organization and visiting officials of the M.F. A. Thit was in addition to th regular business meeting which followed. On Sunday, March 2), from J:00 to 5:00 p.m., there wat a reception for the Muenche in the dining room of St. Paul' Evangelical and Reform ed church, of which they are mem- ben Tha room wa made lovely with flowers and candles, through th cooperation of tha family and tha Women' Guild, who also served delicious 'freshments of cake, coffee, and punch, with Mn. Frank Otterman serving as chairman of the committee. Mn Olin Ahmann, president of the Guild, welcomed the guests and (poke beautifully of anniversaries and their significance. Mn. Dorothy Otterman -ead an anniversary poem by Edgar V Guest. Rev. P. Hubert Konrad con ducted a most fitting little ceremony if thanksgiving and reconsecration. A -luartett from the Churchmen's Brotherhood offered several appro priate vocal selection. Mrs. Oscar Bollman spoke the thanks of the faul ty for all tha kindnesses and court- tie cztended to them, and gav a brief tribute to her parent. Asked if ha had any word of wis dom, Mr. Muench spoke briefly of h fart that h had successfully married and made a farm woman out of a town girl, contrary to tha advice given him therefore he offered no advice, eteept that one should not al ways follow it! Mn Muench swallow-ad the lump of happiness in her hroat and smilingly declined to make nv public comment. Anthony Wnt-hoff took a number of photographs or the family. Mrs Florence Hileedirk presided over the guest book, in whtvh a total of one hundred forty four persons registered. I his included a numbet f relative and friends from St. Louis, Warrenton, Washington, Leung-on. Pleasant Hill, Aurutta, Holttein, nd Duttow, Mo., in addition to those from Marthasville. 60th Wedding Anniversary One grandchild was able to be preterit, Miss Margaret Bollman who it a senior in college at Evsmsville, In diana. A brother, Mr. Fred Muench, of St. Louis was the only guest who was also present at the wedding sixty year ago. Those registered from Washington wer Mn Julia Lindauer, who is a sister of Mr. Muench, Mr. and Mn ulius Lindauer, Mr. and Mrs. Robert indauer, Mr. and Mrs. Harold Lindauer and little daughter, also Mn Sadie Mittler, Mn. F. W. Wright and Mrs. Minni Hoevelmann.
